I use my mobile antennas with the maxrad mag mount ruberrized base. I wonder if this rubber base downgrades the ground plane effect? Is better for ground plane if the mag mount has a direct contact with the roof car paint surface?
thanks

The closer the base of the antenna gets to touching the ground plane the better your performance.

E.G. Shaving space off or eliminating the magnet altogether would increase performance.

Here's the question: Do you feel like you need more performance at this point?

- just a technical question. i'm very comfortable with this mag mount rubberized. i use the GRE amplifier. i think (it's not a scientific proof) i can compensate the loss with this set-up (i.e rubberrized base+amplifier). thanks
