License KNIK559 includes a FX1 (control station) on 155.880. There does not seem to be a corresponding FB2 (repeater) on that license. Perhaps this accesses a repeater licensed to someone else (e.g., State of NC)? 155.880 is used by some other agencies in the area.
I have not monitored it yet-will do so next time I am through Haywood County-so no PL tone or nature of traffic, at this point. Any ideas, please post.

That's one of Maggie Valley PD's TAC channels according to my notes.

I also have it listed as MVPD Tac 2, no tone info. I am gonna roll up to Cherokee vias MV this next week. I will see if I can snag any tone for it.

I am right here in Haywood, i will check but odds are if not CSQ it will use the same PL as most of the other LE freqs they use... they tend to lack imagination.

That siad that freq gets very, very little use.

From asking around it sounds like that is a tac channel used simplex mostly just for the chief and supervisors. It may have a DPL but not 100% on that yet.

Yes, simplex TAC use would be consistent with other nearby agencies using this freq-but the fact it is listed in the FCC record as FX1 implies that it is an input to a repeater.
I do monitor Haywood, but I've heard no activity on it so far, either.

I can tell you for sure there is no repeater on that freq, input or output.
They may be planning for one down the road, but there is none now.

For now Maggie is dispatch by the Sheriff's dispatchers, although there has been talk they may switch to thier own. This may be a step toward moving in that direction.

OK hint: FX is NOT always a repeater input... I have seen it used as a remote to mobiles.. almost like a repeater, and as a remote from mobiles to base..... and as Point To Point ,... remember FX is just a FIXED transmitter site..... It can be used as a control for any purpose.

I'm a Firefighter/EMT in Haywood County and that I know of, MVPD doesn't use that channel. At least I've never heard their officers (and I know most of them) mention them "switching over" to a private channel. Sherriff's Office has a private channel they call "Channel 6" thats simplex & rarely used but for private communications.

Naah, Maggie does have at least one "private" freq, but I think only a few of the higher officers have it. I am pretty sure this is it and they have a DPL on it.
