In regards to the VUF and UHF LMR frequencies and progranmming a scanner. I see that both sites say they can be monitored in P25 mode. My scanner has an Apco p25 card it it. Is there anything i ned to do when progrmaming so that it is monitored in P25? Also what is " NAC is 293"?

If your scanner has the P-25 card then you just enter the frequencies in as a conventional channel.

Your best bet would be to just monitor VHF-FM Maine 16 and 23. Anything else, you won't be able to hear. Coast Guard District One has stated that they want all units on encryption as of April 2012. When they do talk in the clear, I have heard the Sector come up pretty fast and have them switch to encryption.

YMMV - but I still hear Plenty of In The Clear traffic on the LMR Nets :D

Always worth putting them in your radio anyway, you might be suprised.
