A strong storm system spawned several tornadoes overnight Saturday, one of which touched down in Lake Township. The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirms that two people were killed. An unknown number of others were injured.
Damage was reported at Lake High School. 13abc's Amy Montgomery reports from the scene that a large portion of the school is gone. There is a large amount of debris strewn about the school property and the school's marquee was heavily damaged.
Emergency crews are working to contain a nearby gas leak.
We also have reports of at least a dozen homes damaged in Moline. The worst of the damage appears to be in the Indian Creek subdivision. Homes were also damaged in the Moline area.
The tornadoes that struck late Saturday into early Sunday were part of a larger storm system that roared through parts of Michigan, Indiana and Illinois earlier in the day.
