Hey guys, I have a Diamond RH789 antenna that works really well with my new Uniden Bearcat BCD325P2 but when I bought it I didnt realize it pivoted at the base for use on both a handheld or 90 degrees for a base radio. Whats a good way to permanently make this antenna straight to where it doesnt fold over anymore? I thought about just putting a few layers of heat shrink tubing on there but I dont know.....

A few layers of heat shrink should do the trick. And it can be removed and replaced if need be.
Yeah, I bought one of those Larsen BNCQ whip antennas for this radio thinking it was better after trimming the whip for around the 150 megahertz band but surprisingly enough the Diamond does receive better.

Well that heat-shrink tubing idea worked pretty good. I put a short piece just around the pivot part and then put about 4 more pieces over that from the base to the label and its pretty solid.
