The MSP helicopter is using their FLIR to find hot spots on the roof.

To elaborate a little bit - the MSP helo was not transmitting thru a repeater as far as I could tell. It sounded like I was hearing him directly. I did not check down 45 mhz. Peter Sz

No.

Be advised that Malden should be converting to UHF very soon, so all of the commo issues during this incident will become moot.

New dispatch channel: 482.0125 / 179.9 (output).

Thus far, Malden has not been assigned a specific tactical channel, so if needed it will probably go to District 13 North District (482.2500 / 107.2, repeated, output) or North Tactical (482.1875 / 141.3, simplex).

All above channels are "narrrow band" (i.e., +/- 2.5 KHz max deviation).

Does anyone have any knowledge of the PLs used on 153.83 in the Medford - Chelsea - Lynn area? Possibly some portable radios would transmit a PL but receive in CSQ mode (PL 0.0 you might say). I would guess that originally that everyone operated without PL. Peter Sz

Medford no longer uses 153.83. The only remaining use in Chelsea is a cross band repeater in the command vehicle that links the current fireground freq. 485.1875 with 153.83 for interop with incoming mutual aid. For unknown reasons the repeater has been on continuously for the last few weeks.

They are probably within 6 months or so of ending all use of 153.83 in the Metro Fire area as the last remaining communities change over to UHF.
