Manchester Ga Trip

Greetings from Lagrange...............about 40 minutes nw of Manchester.

The counties you'll want to try for:

Troup Co - conventional vhf & City of Lagrange 800-TRS Motor Type II

Muscogee Co / Harris Co / City of Columbus 800-TRS Moto Type II - Closest tower should be atop Pine Mtn in Harris County. That should let you hear everything.

Meriwether Co - All conventional VHF / Towns of Woodbury (R), Greenville (S), Warm Springs and of course Manchester. Manchester has its own FD while the rest of the county is served by a county FD.

Pike Co - Conventional UHF for S.O. while FD is vhf.

Talbot Co - so small and rural, when I pass through I don't hear anything.

Upson Co & City of Thomaston both conventional UHF

Ga State Patrol has a post on top of the mountain in Manchester. Base to car and car to base channels are both simplex (S).

May be a reach but you might try Russell Co Alabama. They are conventional vhf. Ala State Troopers out of Opelika, ALA conventional set up like Ga St Patrol.

All of these are on the database. Another great resource is www.ScanAtlanta.com the webmaster of which is also a memeber of this forum.

If you use Uniden 780 or 785 via ARC780 or ARC250-785 software I can send you files.

Please write with any other questions. I hope this helps.

If you don't mind my asking......what will bring you to Manchester?? Pretty area if you haven't seen it before.

*** Callaway Gardens *** Please take the time to head over near Pine Mtn in Harris County. Beautiful does not begin to describe it. Bike trails, fishing, or simply walking.

Have a great trip and good luck in your endeavors.....and be safe.

Best Regards,
Julian

I was going to chime in about the train watching in Manchester, but I see you already do it! One can wear out their batteries in the scanner at the yard there!
