:) Yep, 154.355 Was A Strong Signal. I Live Near Manchester, The New Freq signal Is Not 1/2 As Good. Why I do Not Know. Works Good In Town Though.

If memory serves me correct - the higher the frequency the less distance it covers, hence the need for repeaters.

yeah, he's right bobmich, the higher frequency will give you better local propegation, better building penetration and coverage in an urban environment....but will give you squat in terms of distance. 800 is all kinds of fine and dandy in a city, with highrises and lots of stuff around....but if you get out in the plains, that 800 freq will wane LONG before that 154 TX. Try going simplex UHF and then simplex VHF with some portables. Betchya you'll get half the distance or less.

:) Funny Thing Is That The MPD, Which Is On 460.125, Comes In Fairly Well At My Home. 453.2125, Which Is Dispatched From The MPD, BARELY Comes In, If At All. Go Figure :?

Here are the numbers ...

460.1250 239 E Middle Tpk 200 watts
460.4000 41 Center St 225 watts
453.2125 75 Center St 100 watts
453.4625 239 E Middle Tpk 75 watts

Also, 453.2125 is designated as an interagency coordination frequency by FCC. I would expect that at some point the town will have to change to another freq.

it's funny that all those sites are what....a couple of blocks from each other?

and that's some high-gain work there too...i don't think any of those sites are over 90 watts at the finals. ERP anyone?
