If you have ARC396 from Butel, I'll send you my .mem file of that system. I confirmed proper reception of that system myself just this past week (even if you use the trial version, you should still be able to upload the file).

Thank you for responding. I downloaded a trial version of ARC 396 but am not sure how to use it. If you would send .mem file of that system, I will try to figure out how to get it into the scanner. wazu77@yahoo.com Thank You

I'm not having any luck with that department either...I live in Toms River, close to the manchseter border...I dont think I'm out of range or anything. I just dont pick anything up. I'm using a R.S. pro-2096, their freq / TGID's do appear on my screen from time to time, but there is no voice or anything.

STUMPED!!??!!??

Nope you're not out of range, i get them loud and clear from Seaside Heights;did you follow the correct steps for programming the system? remember it must be setup for 9600 baud and the custom frequency table must be programmed in.

I was in Toms River last week, and the system sounds great. I hope more towns jump on the 9600 bandwagon - to never hear raw digital at the start of a transmission is a beautiful thing... :p

BTW - one of my confidential sources told me that Jersey City is looking to implement NJ's first IP-based trunk system with an ASTRO-25 VOPN solution (nothing set in stone yet).

I can't speak to the 2096, but a likely reason is that some TGs on the Manchester Twp system are encrypted. I don't know how that affects the RS scanners, but on the 396, there's a brief garbled xmit, then it goes silent, displaying "ENC" to indicate an encyrpted talkgroup.

So, does this mean that Jersey City is looking at a system that can't be monitored by a scanner (ie. Open Slime, uh, I mean, Sky)?

With the Pro-2096 the encrypted talkgroups still show up with the garbled transmissions and doesn't go silent like it does with the 396.

I would have to assume that the new IP7 systems that Moto is developing (I think that's what my buddy called them) will use the P25 format, but I have no idea how becoming a VoIP system will affect the ability to listen to it (you might be able to hear the transmissions, but not trunk the system in the proper way).

OK, corrections to my last (after talking with my buddy):

The system is known as '7X', and it's an IP-style network between the consoles & site controllers. The subscriber units in the field work just like a normal system, and we should be able to trunk it with our current digital scanners (so long as they don't go encrypted).

This morning Stations 32 and 34 were dispatched to a call on County UHF Fire Dispatch, so it appears they have made the switch from low band. Fire ground must still be on low band as I didn't hear any response from them on the trunk system.
