I'll be in Manitoba next month and noticed the RR database listing for the MTS Fleetnet system. I've culled the list of freqs down to these control channel freqs.

Manitoba Control Channels
854.81250, 854.86250, 854.91250, 854.96250, 855.06250, 855.11250, 855.16250, 855.21250, 856.06250, 856.11250, 856.16250, 856.21250, 856.31250, 856.36250, 856.41250, 856.46250, 858.01250, 858.06250, 858.11250, 858.16250, 858.21250, 858.26250, 858.31250, 858.36250, 858.41250, 858.46250, 860.06250, 860.11250, 860.21250, 860.31250, 860.36250, 860.46250, 866.03750, 866.06250, 866.08750, 866.11250, 866.13750, 866.16250

Is this all I really need in my Pro-96 to monitor all the RCMP activity? Are there any control channel freqs I've missed for this system?

Are there any laws about mobile monitoring in the province? How about radar detectors?

I'll be stopping in Brandon on my travels. Does Brandon PD work separate freqs or are they on this system as well?

Any other tips that will allow me to easily monitor the RCMP while I'm there?

Thanks!

Here you go, this is how I have my Pro 2096 programmed up for Winnipeg and around Southern Manitoba. All you need is the control channels. I usually just monitor the first 4 banks. That is why they are active right now. City Of Brandon is in Bank 7 for your information. If you are driving in from the West I would suggest that you monitor Banks 0 through 8 as it should cover the drive right into the city. You will see that Banks 8 & 9 are made up for my travels down to Garand Forks.

As for the mobile scanning, yes sadly it is true there is a old law on the books but in all the years that I have been scanning, well over 20+ years now, I have never ever been nailed for mobile scanning. Use common sense if you travel with it in the car. If you are stopped turn it off and just casually lower it to the floor, so the officer's don't see it.

Radar Detectors are a no, no also. Don't have one turned on or you will get stopped for sure.

Randy

EDITED: I decided to add a P97 file as well for you in case you have a pro 97 scanner along with you. :) WpgMb is p.97

I find that throwing it out the window while you are being involved in a criminal flight from police is probably faster .. but in my opinion about the dumbest thing to do. I do agree .. keeping your scanner hidden is probably best as for some reason most law enforcement officers seem to think that only criiminals own scanners.

Someday I would like to offer a law enforcement session explaining the lawful uses of a scanner. Sadly I think it will be in my grand childrens days when this will be maybe feasable. I really wish this would change ..
