I programmed a conventional dmr system that I found on the digital frequency search site. I have a BCD436hp

I am picking up active audio on one of the channels and am trying to program it as a DMR system so I can pick up talkgoups and such.

I am brand new to the DMR stuff.

This is what i was able to capture on the screen

Color code 5
CAP

It is the following system

United Launch Alliance, LLCWPPB577

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Given it is reporting that it is a CAP type system, it must be programmed as a MotoTRBO Trunk system with all system frequencies. Then (assuming you don't already have them), you must run the LCN finder (successfully) in order to track the system.

That license is showing two locations at the Cape - one that is reporting 2 repeater frequencies and the other with 3 (different) frequencies.

The frequencies associated with your image above (452.475) are:
451.925
452.475
461.25

Create a MotoTRBO Trunk system with all three of these programmed and then run the LCN finder (note that this could take some time to complete depending upon how busy the system is).

Thank you. I am searching for the LCNs now. its found 2 of the 3 pretty quick so hopefully it finds the last one sometime soon. I may just do a process of elimination and try and fire out by manually setting the LCNs being there is only 3 of them.

It is possible that all licensed frequencies are not in use. You could hit 3/3 fairly quickly or it may stay at 2/3 for a very long time. If the later, exit the LCN finder and save the results. Then listen for a bit... if you seem to be hearing everything, the third frequency may not be in use. If you are missing stuff, you may need to run LCN finder a bit longer.

Another option is to program the "extra" frequency as conventional and monitor it for a while to see if you hear anything.

I have a facility near me that isn't even listed as being DMR but is.... One of the listed frequencies is running a CAP system, another is a single conventional DMR user on slot 1... you never know what you'll find....

You might want to look at the other site/location on the license and it's 2 frequencies as well....

only locked on 2 of the 3
451.925 LCN 1
452.475 - LCN 2
461.25

Does that mean that the missing one is 3 or could it actually be the 1st or 2nd one?

I am still not picking up anything on the MOTO system but and hearing active chatter on the conventional system.

I have the 3rd one programmed by its self and have heard nothing

I set it up to Search for IDs when I programmed it.

I also had to create a talkgroup ID for it to even be able to search for the LCN?? is that normal? Im gonna let it scan LCN finder later today and see if I can get the 3rd one.

I've always found this process to be a bit of a kludge and typically always also create a dummy 'department' with a dummy talkgroup (any ID value) and then run everything.

In the same vein, for a NXDN system I'm working, I did all of this and created a list of 1000 dummy talkgroups for better performance.

still showing the CAP system with S1 and S2 on the bottom. Created a few dummy talk groups (1000 to be exact) for the moto system and will see if it picks anything up.

would it be worth trying to duplicate the system with different LCN orders?

Which frequency are you hearing voice on? Is it strong and clear?

If you created dummy talkgroups, make sure that service type is enabled (it probably is based on your image above).

How strong is the MotoTRBO system signal?

On the conventional setup I’m hearing 451.925 and 452.475 clear as day with not issues.

As for the signal on the Moto system, when I run the system status I’m not picking it up constant.

Site ID comes up as 2 (but not in this pic)

DMR single frequency

Try programming it as a DMR single frequency. Enter all your frequencies. You should get TG info. I have struggled with issues like your having also. Always had luck with that setup.
