Are any of the Geagua MARCS-IP sites online yet? If so, we need to get the information in the database. Somebody should run Unitrunker or Pro96Com on the Lake or Cuyahoga simulcast site occasionally to see if they list a new neighbor [a Geauga neighbor].
Mike

Don't bother the Geauga sites are not online yet, installs at the sites are progressing but we still have a lot of antenna & feedline work to finish.

Some of the school districts are starting to appear on adjacent sites since they purchased new radios that are P25 only (no Smartnet/Smartzone) and the school year started before we could get our P25 sites running.

For the schools on the west side of the county the Chester & Chagrin subsites that are part of the Cuyahoga simulcast site provide enough coverage for them to use the trunking system, for the schools further east we set up a temporary analog conventional repeater on 856.1125 since their new P25 radios also work on conventional analog.

For talkgroup assignments I'll have to check my list when I'm back to work on Monday.

Geauga County in conjuction with MARCS has received federal funding for the P25 build out.

Geauga County received no federal funding for our system buildout. Some of the individual agencies that use the system did receive various grants like HSGP or AFG awards to assist with purchasing new portable or mobile radios, but the County's cost for the system upgrade was paid by the County general fund.

Original quote was $ 7M, by joining with MARCS instead of purchasing our own master site/zone controller we reduced our project cost by $ 1M. Another $ 2M was cut by using our in house staff to install the new system instead of Motorola.

TG 19537 appears to be East Cuyahoga area school transport Mayfield area

Around noon today I heard a transmission on TG19357 from dispatch to Tom.

Dispatch: Tom have you left yet?

Tom replied: I'm just turning onto Wilson Mills.

Dispatch: There are several children at West Geauga waiting, can you pick them up?

Tom: I'll turn around and get them.

kf8yk, I wasn't implying that Geauga wasn't paying for it's build out. Just that federal grants were used, just as they were for Cuyahoga and Lake Counties. The money was there why wouldn't you use it? If you didn't someone else would get it.

HSGP (Homeland Security Grant Program) and AFG (Assistance to Firefighter Grants - provided by FEMA) are both federal grant programs. MARCS received Homeland Security grant money for the P25 controllers that it has purchased and deployed.

I added it to the DB, labeled as West Geauga LSD. That is the SD that serves both Russell Twp (Novelty) and Chesterland. If it ends up not being West Geauga, somebody can let me know and chastise me rofl.

Mike,

I don't know for sure but I don't think it is West G LSD (my school district). The reason I don't think it is West G is because I monitor their system since my grandkids go to those schools and I have heard the school buses all day long on the Geauga radio system. My guess is it might be the Metzenbaum Center and their special buses and vans. A much smaller system to test on. I will have to pay more attention to
19537 to see if I can identify the user.

Thinking that Swipesy (John) has the handle on this...Maybe he can Monitor the Metzenbaum Center on the Current system and see if it is still active along with the new system as he follows the school system radios.

Well disaster has struck me. Thursday afternoon I dropped my beloved PSR-500 on the kitchen floor and it is deader than a door nail. I shipped it off to GRE in California Friday morning. I am back to using my Pro-96 for awhile so no MARCS P-25 monitoring for me. I did hear Metzennaum Center being very active Friday on the Geauga analog system but can't compare if they are using P-25 at this point.

Thanks for the updates Gary.

Gary,

I added 13563/564 as Hillcrest FD Ch.3/Ch.4. I added them as Fire Talk - if you feel anything in the DB listing should be different, let me know.

Thanks!

Mike

Swipesy/John. I have a Pro 96 with the Radio Shack software to program it. It is tracking the P25 ok. Both the MARCS 25 and it even tracks the new Cleveland system. Was listening to them test on it this afternoon.

It should work fine on the Cleveland system, being that it is rebanded 850MHz frequencies.Plus, Lake is on 850, too. Might not hear any of the MARCS stuff on 700MHz.

Thanks John and Larry. I had forgotten about the Pro-96 and P-25. I used to monitor Parma's P-25 so I will have to give the MARCS P-25 a shot although I think they are using the 700 band On MARCS P-25 for some of their transmissions. I will program it in and see what happens.
