MARCS Mahoning Valley question:

I uploaded about every MARCS frequency and talk group I could find that was listed on RR from Mahoning, Columbiana, and Trumbull Counties.. But all I ever log are the OSP posts in Warren, Canfield and Lisbon and the OH Turnpike. My listening post is in Austintown and I usually pick up from the site in Campbell.

My question is: Do any other state agencies use MARCS in this area? I still hear ODOT on a real low band.

Question two: Since I am not mobile.. is it ok just to have the Campbell Site on my scanner.. or should I add Salem?

I would add Salem and Leavittsburg (Trumbull Co.) control sites in addition to Campbell.
There are many other agencies besides O.S.P. that use Marcs in your area (State Correctional facilities, State Parks, Fire Marshall, Lifeflight, etc.) However, O.S.P. groups are very, very talkative, especially the Turnpike units. That could be the reason you are not getting any radio traffic from other agencies.

What scanner are you using? It makes a big difference in how sites are programmed depending on the scanner.

Agencies

I'm in the same area. On that trunk, I'm getting OHP Lisbon, OHP Ravenna, OHP Warren, Ohio State Pen (not sure where that one is), Action Ambulance, OHP Canfield, the Campbell Pen, and Turnpike East.

I also have a bunch of wildcard hits that I have been around enough to figure out who they are. Unlike you, I didn't download every Tgrp.
