Hello,

while monitoring The MARCS frequencies in The Belmont and Monroe County's areas are any of the frequencies encrypted? I have been picking up some encrypted traffic on a few of the frequencies. I am also picking up Monroe County Sheriff on some frequencies. I also programed the new 700 band however I have not heard anything on there as of yet. Are they using this system yet or is this something that is coming down the road? I would appreciate any help with this question.

Thanks
John

The OSHP has not switched to the new 700mhz system yet. I listen to the new MARCS-IP system and I am hearing a lot of traffic on the Kirkwood system. Also there a few encrypted talk groups on the old marcs system but there are a lot of thinks to listen to.

Frequencies are not encrypted. Individual radios have that option. It depends on the agency. I know Fayette County is using encryption.

OSHP TAC channels on the old system are usually encrypted as they will be on the new system.

MARCS-IP is not a 700 MHz. system . It uses 700 & 800 frequencies (actually 760-860). All the old 800 MHz. frequencies will eventually move over to the IP system.
