Hi,

I was wondering if there are any talkgroups on the MARCS system that were operating in analog mode. Is there any? I am using a PRO-93 and was wondering if I would be able to hear at least a little bit of the MARCS system.

Nothing is analog.

Some of the mutual aid FREQUENCIES are conventionally programmed but unsure if they are anolog or digital.

Those are not part of MARCS, there are FCC-required interagency freq's nationwide analog.

APCO-25 is by definition a digital standard:

"Project 25 uses the IMBE Vocoder. IMBE stands for Improved Multi-Band Excitation, and was developed by DVSI Inc. Numerous vendors have produced Project-25 capable subscriber equipment, including Motorola, EF Johnson, Uniden, Racal, and others. There are conventional voice solutions as well as trunking solutions available for this digital voice solution."

The Pro-96 is a great radio, so start saving. With MARCS online, and the eventual switch to digital for Franklin County, you'll need it.

Yeah, i've heard that the next step in their comms upgrades will be a complete change to digital this year. So, i'm saving!

Who Franklin County going digital this year? uh nope. They dont have the $$$$ to spend to get an upgrade. The only thing they are doing right now is building a tower up on the northside. It cost 8 million to build and that was paid for by a Government grant.

With the ever so great (HA HA) Bob Taft in office (does he look like a dork or is it just me) now cutting city and county funds from the state look for a Apco-25 system to be put off even further down the road.

That isn't gonna happen for a few more years, yet, though. They are still setting up tower sites and working out the bugs. Once that's all ironed out, THEN, they will flip to 9600

This page notes that the county engineer is analog not digital. Of course this is clermont county. but it is on the MARCS system.

That's not on MARCS. Clermont Co Engineer would be on the Clermont County system; MARCS has no analog talkgroups.

No, Clermont County is its own separate system!
MARCS is statewide and except for Union County and ambulance
service in the Toledo area, at this point its only users are state
of Ohio related. Clermont County is its own system, just as Warren
County is.

So the clermont county system is a seperate system. Ok. But they are still apco 25 and only able to be hear via a digital scanner correct?
