I don't know if this thread will end up being stickied or not. But it looks like MARCS is starting to reband some sites. There are two new applications (one pending, one granted), each with multiple sites on the license. The applications list a bunch of added rebanded frequencies, many of which would take place of existing control channels.

So I would think it is important to document these changes, so that if/when a site goes dark in peoples' scanners, they'll know that they need to be looking for new control channels.

I'm going list the current YE rebanded applications, and would hope to contiue to do so as time progresses and more applications are received.

A few things to keep in mind:

1. License applications do not mean that the site has been rebanded. They just indicate what new frequencies will be used on those sites. I'd seriously doubt any site listed on the above YE licenses would actually be rebanded yet. So don't panic.

2. Once a site has been rebanded, people will stop hearing traffic on the site until they [or all of us collectively] are all able to determine the new control channel frequencies in use.

Many people program using CC-ONLY. Some people program in all frequencies for a site and set up their scanner to scan all frequencies on a particular site for an active control channel. Those who do the latter would likely not have any issues picking up traffic once the site has actually been rebanded. Those who do the former would find no activity on the programmed site until they program in the new control channels.

Just be aware that sites will eventually get rebanded and that we'll all have to eventually deal with figuring out new control channels and updating DB information as that rebanding occurs.

MARCS is only licensing frequency changes at this point so don't get too excited. It's probably a year away from changing any sites; they cannot do any until all mobile, portable and control station radios are completed.

That certainly makes sense. I'm still excited. I'm always excited to document trunked systems. I'll just keep all the info organized here locally, and whenever it's time to start adding the data to the sites I'll have it at my fingertips.

MARCS Freq Updates (Rebanding)

I've attached a text file with the FCC grants for a large number of MARCS licenses. If for some reason the attachment didn't work, you should be able to use the link below to Glenn Mitchell's webpage for the information.
