The troopers are not typically a chatty bunch.
Usually I will hear a lot of license plates/ mile markers being called in.
I never hear a return, so I assume the dispatcher sends the info back to them via mdt.
Unfortunately, I'm hearing a lot of them request to go to tac (which are recently encrypted).
Sometimes I've heard them try to intercept fleeing vehicles from another agencies, but that's a rarity.
For the settings, be sure you have all the towers around you programmed in. I monitor marcs mobilely and use the roam setting to seek out new towers once signal quality degrades.
Also, someone recently pointed me to be sure and use custom trunking tables (vs. Default) for mot 800/900 system. this makes for more efficient scanning and eliminated the occasional cutoff of a transmission or when it goes to a voice channel, shows tg id, but no audio. Custom tables (for mot 800/900 non rebanded) fixed that.
I use win500. I'm not sure about how its setup w/ butel.
