Marine Week takes flight with mock attack on Detroit River
It’s all part of Marine Week in Detroit, which officially kicked off Wednesday and runs through Sunday.
The Marine-Air Ground Task Force demonstration features two F/A-18 aircraft, two CH-53 heavy lift helicopters, two MV-22 Osprey aircraft and an UH-1 Huey helicopter.
The simulation features reconnaissance Marines who “fast rope” down to the barge from the Huey while others arrive on combat rubber raiding crafts.
“There’s also a call for fire for our artillery to do a simulated strike of that barge,” said Capt. Diann Rosenfeld, who works in public affairs for USMC.
