Metro News reported yesterday I believe that HRP had completed the switch to TMR2 and also switched on encryption, I am unsure if links are allowed, but if you search Halifax Police and encryption in any search engine you should find the article I saw.

Rcmp are switching over in the Yarmouth end of the province, in the past week I had to lock out talkgroups 9001 up to 9005 because it's encrypted and on my Gre psr 600 it doesn't mute them out automatically like when it was on the old Tmr system!

We've received confirmation over on ScanMaritimes that the first PEI site has come online for testing, and it does indeed have the same system ID as the NS system.
I've renamed the NS system in the database to reflect that it's now covering multiple provinces, and Daniel (ScanPEI) should now have access to it for database admin tasks.

Yes, thank you Chris. I now have full access and will be adding PEI sites and talkgroups as they are confirmed.

1. Is the old system still online right now?
2. Where is the bulk of the RCMP at right now? Still on TMR1?
3. What encryption mode is HRP using?

June 1 was the planned date for the TMR1 to be shutdown. Not sure if that has since changed. RCMP should now be on TMR2 and completely encrypted. HRP is likely using a very secure encryption mode but not sure if it's 256-bit like the RCMP.

When RCMP was on TMR1 they were using DES OFB. Not sure if that changed or something, I can very vividly remember ALGID=81 ;p.

I'm in doubt about the CBRPS going encrypted. Not a lot of scanner nuts around here with the latest and greatest. They would knock out more than 80 percent of listeners if they just moved to a trunked system. I'm serious, there are A LOT of old Realistic scanners out there in the CBRM. When they move to digital, atleast 95 percent of the people in the CBRM won't be able to hear. I've heard talk of them moving to digital before on the radio, but never any mention of encryption.

im with you on this one, given how poorly written the article was and the fact its coming from the department themselves its entirely possible that when they say encryption they mean digital, and frankly i dont think they could afford the cost of going encrypted anyway

Thanks for pointing that out... it seems another admin from another area decided to add the second one. Not sure why... anyway I've removed it.

New Brunswick Government announced yesterday that they have partnered with Bell Mobility to upgrade their provincial emergency radio system. Reports from those involved is that NB will be joining Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island on the P25 system, to make a Maritime wide radio system.

Confirmed with a friend on CBRM PD.....they will be fully encrypted.

Was also able to confirm with someone in the know that CBRM Fire will utilize the VFD Fleetmap and not their own fleetmap similar to HRM as some had speculated.
