Psr-500

Been trying to switch my psr-500 from the 800mhz to the new tmr2 p25. When I enter the control channel, the scanner automaticly trunk the number up or down not letting me put the actual frequency. Ei: Sand river 769.15625 the scanner default to 766.996875
Aulds Cove 772.39375 the scanner defaults to 773.00000.
I have not had any luck with any of the channels.

Any idea?

Must be a setting with the scanner. Try to find something about the mHz Steps or something like that.
Are you trying to do it manually or with software? Software would be your best option. I recently programmed one for a guy in Truro using PSR Edit and it works beautifully.

I recently had the same issue. I fixed it by changing in my scanner options the bandplan from USA to Canada. It only worked by manually programming it though. Using software it still rounded the frequencies.

Do you have a "how to" write up on doing that? Him really good at manual programming as ive never used a computer to do it yet. Thanks.

Thanks but Im in Amherst. Little far. I think if I could just change the bandplan from US to Canada i should be good. Ive looked everywhere in the global setting/expert setting and can't seem to find it. Been threw the manual 3 time already. Might have to update the software as Ive never updated anything for the last 8 years.

Progress is moving quickly. Already 3 sites online. Two in York County and 1 in Westmorland County. Maritime Trunked Radio

It is anticipated there will roughly be ~100 sites.

This topic will be used for updates/info regarding the NB portion of the system.

That's a huge amount of talkgroups for only three sites active. Were they all monitored, or taken from some other source?

Alberta's new P25 system is about to go live, and there is a sizable amount of encryption involved there, but the Common Event (aka interop) talkgroups are all mandated to be in the clear. I gather from the list on your system's page that there are some LE and related interop TGs that will still be encrypted?

The system is shared by the 3 Maritime provinces of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. NB is the last province to come online, hence why so many talkgroups for only 3 sites being active there. All talkgroups (minus a few) belong to the other 2 provinces.

Pretty much the same thing is happening with this system. All interop channels are in the clear, except the law ones. Anything LE related for the most part is encrypted.

Just an update re the PSR-500.

Been emailing someone who is having the same issue here on the island. Frequencies default to 766.996875. He tried changing the Band Plan to Canadian and turn the Flex Step option on/off, both did not work.

You can access both those options by pressing PGM, FUNC, and F3. Just scroll through the list to find them.

It almost seems like the range of 767-772 MHz is blocked.

Started a thread on the issue here: http://forums.radioreference.com/gre-scanners/323212-767-772-mhz-blocked.html

There is now a site on line that I can pick up. The Four Falls Site (Victoria County) was listed on the system today (here on RR) so I thought I would give it a try. On my BCD396XT, SID:0687h-0211. Of course I haven't heard anything yet, but it is a start.

Thanks Mark. I'm sure there will be a few more pop up over the next few weeks that you will be able to hear as well. Sites in NB are coming online fast. They are wasting no time! 15 sites online and counting (only 13 in the DB, as I'm waiting confirmation on 2 site numbers).

I got bored this afternoon so I made up a Google map, similar to my Alberta AFRRCS one, for the tri-province Maritimes system.

I included all the sites shown in Spectrum Direct, and put lightning-bolt icons on the sites published in RR. All the remaining teardrop sites are ones that are not yet in the RRDB.

Note that a few "known" sites go by different names in the "official" Industry Canada records compared to RR.

Like I said, I keep up a similar map for Alberta's new system: clicky

The one I posted in post #9 was done by importing an Excel file and letting Maps Engine chew on the data. The only massaging I did after it was uploaded was to change the "confirmed" sites' icons to lightning bolts.

I am picking up something new: SID:0687h-0269 Approximate frequency is 771.13125 Mhz. Location unknown.

On the map I posted in post #9, there are two sites with 771.13125 in their freq list (and realistically close to you). Oak Hill is almost 130 miles south-southeast of you, but Edmunston-Blanchette Mountain is only 40ish miles NNW.

Are you by chance running Unitrunker or PRO96COM? Peers/neighbors would be a huge help in figuring out where the site is.

I have tried in the past to get Unitrunker to work, but at that time I couldn't get it to do anything useful. Although it is possible that it could be the Edmunston area, several other sites are closer to me and I haven't picked them up yet, except Four Falls which is the closest site to me. Perhaps I will try Unitrunker again, but I'm not sure what to expect.

I seem to have gotten Unitrunker to work, at least sort of. Here is the info so far: Site 002-069 APCO P25 BEE00-687 LCN 01-1460 771.13125 LCN 01-1500 771.38125 LCN 01-1580 771.88125 3 frequencies so far.

The only site I see with a license for 771.88125 is in Saint John, quite a huge distance from you, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything, I guess.

Anything showing on the Peers tab?
