Is MARS network still active?

I have just noticed some activity on 148.350 PL 131.8 , but signal seems digital and was weak for me.

Any idea?

Yes MARS is still very active but not sure about their VHF activity. They use a handful of frequencies. Sunday is a popular day for 'nets' so that's probably what it was. USCG Aux (149 Mhz) can be heard too. WA CAP is also on 148 Mhz and can be heard randomly.

FYI, if they're using a PL tone then it's not 'digital' per se. It's likely MDC1200 which is a data at the end of every transmission -- usually identifying the user. But it could be a lot of things too.

I found this generic but accurate listing of some frequencies to monitor:

Many of the MARS Repeaters [across the country] are still out there, not as much use as in the past, but they are out there.
