A hint! The police and fire are NOT on the same channel. Are you possibly listening to the old trunk system?

The police dept. operates on 453.76250 P25 with a NAC of 270.
The fire department operates 453.43750 (analog) with a tone of 141.3.

Program them both in and see what you hear. If you have the trunk system programmed in, lock that out.

The 396XT should work fine on those.

Oh, to check to see if the police is locked, out go into manual mode, find the where you have Marshfield PD programmed, and see if it's locked out,

hanks for your help, but I do not know how to check the setting. I tried to look at Uniden scanner manual an I could not figure it out. I do not know how I could or lock out police when I get fire dept. on the same channel.The only time I touch the fung. button is to move the squelch witch is not offend. Have a HAPPY EASTER Bob

To Review and/or Unlock Locked out IDs in a System: Press Menu. At 'Program System' press E/yes. At 'Select System' scroll to the system that has the ID(s) you want to unlock and press E/yes. Scroll to 'Edit Sys Option' and press E/yes. Scroll to 'Rvw ID:Srch L/O' and press E/yes. At 'Unlock?' scroll to the ID and press E/yes to unlock. 'Nothing Locked' appears if nothing is locked out. Press 'Menu' to return. To Unlock All IDs in a System Scroll to 'Clr All L/O IDs' and press E/yes. At 'Confirm?' press E/yes to save and exit.

Hi, it has 453.7650 RM270 NAC P25 Law Dispatch, also 482.56250 KZU620 Backup FM law dispatch

Change that to 453.7625! Some P25 can be narrow enough that the scanner won't pick it up on the "next channel" up. I've seen this with the 536 series before and assume it could happen with the 396XT.
