I check the MARTA Board meeting minutes from time to time to see if there's any news about the replacement of the older Motorola mixed mode system they use...appears they have now indeed adopted a resolution for sole source upgrade to 'P25' to Motorola, and it appears that it is in fact funded...gives a timeline of 3 years, 30 million cost with the addition of two more transmitter sites (they did not specify new sites other than Fulton, Dekalb, Clayton).

Probably in Clayton. Clayton joined MARTA in 2014 after the current system was built out. Not sure if they've added any sites there since. Plus, the next phase of the rail line is the Clayton Commuter rail line, so will get some new rail stations in Clayton perhaps this decade.

Rabun County? What do you mean? Clayton, MO is in St. Louis county, of course.

I'm guessing if I'd simply said "Clayton County" you'd say "MARTA is going all the way to Iowa? Wow."

Context is everything.

Ohhh, Clayton COUNTY! Well why didn't you say so!

Clayton Georgia is up in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. Clayton County is a completely different animal!

Clayton County in the Georgia forum is in Georgia, Jonesboro is the county seat. It is quite obvious we are discussing Georgia

I am clear we aren't discussing Iowa, but Clayton Georgia is in Rabun county, and is not in metro atlanta, nor do they have MARTA.

Geography is important as well.

So you literally thought I was suggesting MARTA was going to Rabun County, Georgia? That says more about you than me. Or you knew full well (like everyone else here) that I was referring to Clayton County, Georgia, and that Georgians frequently refer informally to counties without use of the word "county" at the end?

By the way, I didn't say "Clayton, Georgia". That would be modestly more confusing if I had (though only modestly).

Nevertheless, still disappointing to see people in a public forum showing such lack of contextual reading skills, but alas this isn't a forum about our public education system. I appreciate your contributions and do not intend to exclude you so I will try harder to write more clearly in the future so you can follow and not get confused.

Being a native Georgia resident, and not from "Atlanta". I, and everyone else I know, use "county" if you are referring to a county.

I guess atlanta area folks do things differently.

I have a friend in Cordele who runs a wrecker, and gets calls all the time from AAA for a stranded motorist in "Cobb" (Cobb is in Sumter county, between Cordele and Americus) Of course, had the caller said "Cobb county", there wouldn't have been room for error, and they would have received assistance much sooner.

And Clayton is not getting MARTA,.
