I've had conversations with some firefighters with the Martinez Fire Dept. about the switch from a privately owned fire department to a county fire department at the beginning of the new year. Also, they're in a test phase with the new radio system and should switch to the Columbia County DTRS at the same time.
The department has a volunteer program with many of the volunteers purchasing their own radios for on duty use, paging, etc. Rumor has it that they will simulcast on the VHF system so as not to leave the volunteer force in the dark. Hopefully, they won't encrypt like the S.O. did and I could justify buying a new scanner
Anyone in the area that can monitor the system and look for the new talk groups?
