Hmmm, that's a weird number set: I've logged USNA PD units on the JNCR system as 215xxxx and USNA Communications in 217xxxx, so that's right in between the 7 digit ID sets I've seen on there.

Up in Fort Hamilton in New York, the MP didn't use the 7 digit IDs, I wonder if this is a standardization thing. I haven't listened too much on Fort Meade here to get an idea how things are down here :)

I think there is a large effort to regionally standardize to the phone number IDs. I've noticed a lot of US Government support services and the PFPA (though all-encrypted) use 6 digit IDs, but USNA PD at least has 7-dig IDs and I think I saw a Ft Meade MP portable key up the other day with a 7 digit ID.

I could have been mistaken but pretty dead certain that I saw a list of radio ID ranges to be used statewide with county/city/jurisdictions in one of those publicly available Maryland SCIP documents many months ago. If anyone came across it that would be a great help in identifying some of the talkgroup usages.

That would be interesting to see. In the meantime, I'm starting a list for what I've seen. May start a new Wiki page that everyone can contribute to....

Radio IDs

So from what I've reviewed, there is a clear pattern (with some "oddball" exceptions)....

The Maryland county radio ids appear to be assigned in blocks going (mostly) alphabetically.

222 Anne Arundel

224/225 Baltimore

226/227 Baltimore City

tbd Calvert

tbd Caroline

232 for Carroll

tbd Cecil

236 Charles

tbd Dorcheser

tbd Frederick

tbd Garrett

245 Harford

246 Howard

248/249 for Kent

250 Montgomery

252 Prince George

tbd Queen Anne

tbd Somerset

tbd St. Mary's

tbd Talbot

tbd Washington

tbd Wicomico

tbd Worcester

State assets look like 211 and may go all the way to 220 or 221.... So far it's mostly 211 and 212 and some 215.

Virigina appears to be 3xxxxxx --

310 for Alexandria

318 for Fairfax....

Obviously more to learn but you can see the pattern....

I need to start a Wiki

Edit: Oh, and some of the oddballs -- 1000xxx IDs are present on both Maryland Aviation (BWI) and Prince Geroge County (dispatchers).

Training time....

I just stumbled into a VERY nice training program for the North Carolina statewide system (VIPER).

VIPER Online Training

The Public Safety section talks about "site trunking" and "forced site scan" which are pretty interesting.

I know it's a different system, etc and different radios but I wonder if Maryland plans a similar training program.....

Don't have scanner capable of monitoring yet but have noticed that a tower that popped up a couple years ago that finally got some antennas in the last few weeks. The tower is on the south side of wicomico county near where the salisbury bypass comes back to rt 13. I don't know for sure that this is one of the state sites but I have suspected for a while that it is.

Do any of these locations resemble what you described?

Sounds like you mean 4085 Disharoon Rd down in Eden. Correct?

That IS one of the FiRST sites, along with the one Troy posted, but that one's about 100m west of where 13 business and 13 bypass meet on the south end.

EDIT: aand I'm repeating CqDx. Darn, too slow.

If you start getting a P25 II control channel saw noise on any of these FB2 freqs, do post up!

Does anyone know if I put the Freqs in my scanner in conventional if I will hear control channel data the same as I do for a Moto type 2 or edacs? Just trying to see when they become active. Still waiting on a mobile phase 2 scanner, hint hint GRE or uniden

Found in another forum: AntennaSearch - Search for Cell Towers, Cell Reception, Hidden Antennas and more.. Very informative.

As others pointed out, there is a SHA site at 4085 Disharoon Rd, Eden, MD which has a 348' tower (I had no idea this area was called Eden - until today)..... sounds like it's very close to the location you describe.

...and when you drill in to the search results it shows the callsign (WQQJ423) for the Salisbury Maryland FiRST site - and all of the transmitter freqs!

Too bad the search tool doesn't allow search input like callsigns and frequencies.... that would make it even better.

Listened to some units on 8561 headed over the Bay Bridge possibly going to Cambridge (or beyond). Initially, the units were heard on the Baltimore site and then the Anne Arundel site. One of the units was heard as far south as Trappe just before the bridge headed into Cambridge.

I suspect that unless more sites have become active on the shore, he was hitting the Queen Anne's site (@ the Bay Bridge).

I believe these were the same folks testing the limits on the northwestern side of coverage (up towards Sykesville) several weeks ago.
