Ok thank you everyone and if you think about it, it would be in everyone's best interest to allow it to happen and to have it set up as well. In some cases you never know especially with police dept detectives and or fire marshals having to travel to outside their regular local area to solve a case plus it would be a lot cheaper to drive from Oakland, MD to Hilton Head SC then fly and still keep in touch via radio. True cell phone can be used also but when driving ?? you might have to explain to your boss why you got a ticket using the cell while driving ..

Dude they can't even agree on what color flashing lights are exclusively for police or fire between adjacent states. Try to connect your $50M radio system in VA to one in PA via ISSI? I can imagine how thick that MOU would be.

The theory in the P25 standard is that the WACN would identify a wide area system (as the acronym implies) and that the system ID would then identify a local system of operation. You can see examples of this in the DoD NCR system and other regional or national systems that support native (non-ISSI) roaming.

I have asked several Motorola system engineers and never received an answer of why Motorola deploys every system with the same WACN. They are the only manufacturer that does this.

So..
Moto looks at the WACN as their system, with the various entities SYS ID's as the regional system/end users...
Wonder if a paying customer can request (and actually get) what WACN their system will be?
Sounds like the trademark slap of a moto corporate logo on the end user product to me..
No different than buying a Dodge, Ford, or Subaru... It's just part of the package..

WACN BEE00 is simply the MSI default. Most customers make no specific request for a WACN; those that do get what they request.

7501 (DNR) pretty busy today on the AA Site. First time seeing activity on it other than keyups. Unit doing test counts and then it was a patch into a conventional frequency, maybe Area 3 or Area 4.

7501 is patched to 7546. It is Area 3 Patch from Conventional. And some encrypted activity on 7547.

yes was listening earlier and one mentioned sw to TAC 7.
One unit mentioned Bay Swim would be shortened due to high winds and white caps.
Think he said swimmers would all return to Hemingways.

It's a March of Dimes fundraising event where people swim from one side of the Chesapeake Bay to the other, usually to Hemmingway's Restaurant on the Eastern Shore from Sandy Point State Park on the western shore.

Thank you! It’s for a great cause. Is firstnet out there this year for the event?

I'm not exactly sure if FirstNet is widely implemented / utilized in Maryland yet. Maryland FIRST is a statewide public safety LMR system, mostly voice with some low rate data. It supports state agencies, some federal users, some rural / smaller counties, and serves as an interoperability platform for multi-jurisdictional events.

Okay I have question tht may have been already answered

I can pick up all 4 Counties ( Caroline,Qaco,Talbot & Kent Co Md ) up from Dover by locking onto the qaco site / tower

With that being said will I be able to hear Cecil co fire and ems on tht same site as well once they go live on the 700mhz first Sys

Thanks

Depends. If the talkgroups are allowed on the site (they probably will) and if a user is logged into that site on that talkgroup. It could be hit or miss.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you are only monitoring the QAC simulcast cell (site.)

The short answer is no, and the qualified answer is sometimes. The reason why you are hearing Caroline, Talbot, and Kent County units on the QAC site is that (occasionally) a unit affiliated a specific county TG is physically travelling within the operating footprint / service area of the QAC Simulcast site. There are also areas of those counties that *might* fall within the service area of the QAC site. Even though the sites might be labeled with the county's name, that doesn't mean they are restricted only to that county's traffic.
