Looking through logs and noticed a bunch of new tg assignments / keyups between 20000 and 20200. Most are new on December 7, and haven't been used since. A few were keyed up in the past. Most if not all subscriber IDs in the 2199xxx range.

Checking logs....

Various 200xx & 201xx were seen in 2015 with Radio Id's in the 2199xxx when they were doing ISSI setup/testing with PG. Never saw those talkgroups in action since then though.

SHA does have a Shop in Hagerstown so it could be the talkgroup for that. Do you know normally hear any activity on it or just during this snowstorm?

It could also be a District 6 Special Event Talkgroup as all Districts have at least two Special Events talkgroups.

7274 and 7277 most likely are wrong in the database and also could be special events talkgroups for D-6 as Districts statewide use these for flagging ops.

Keyser's Ridge should also have a talkgroup too.

Driving around the southeast side of the Capital Beltway, I noticed very poor (almost non-existent) coverage of the PG site from around JB Andrews to the Wilson Bridge.

Going through some SHA Shop data, it looks like there could be some talkgroups in Western MD that are unknown. It appears that all shops have their own talkgroup.

The following should have talkgroups:
Westernport
Keyser's Ridge
Hagerstown
Thurmont

7274/7277 should be either a shop talkgroup or a Special Event's Talkgroup.

District 6 is missing two special events talkgroups.

Jessup in Howard County should also have a talkgroup.

7275 is listed as Cumberland Shop but it doesn't appear that they actually have a Shop there.

Ward's Hill in Cecilton and Stevensville both have shops but they don't appear to be heavily staffed so they might not have talkgroups.

Once Southern MD/NCR sites become active there should be talkgroups for...

Gaithersburg
Kensington
Fairland
Laurel
La Plata
Sunderland
Prince Frederick
Leonardtown

D-3 should also have a 2nd Special Events talkgroup.

I've never copied anything on 7274 and 7277, I've copied some traffic on 7276 before but not as much as during the snow event.

The following should have talkgroups:
Westernport

7275 is listed as Cumberland Shop but it doesn't appear that they actually have a Shop there.

Westernport is just an unmanned salt dome.

Actual over the air terminology varies. The District 6 office and shop are physically located in LaVale off of Vocke Road. However many refer to it as Cumberland. MSP Barrack "C" is in LaVale. Over the air, troopers refer to it as "Cumberland".

One of the difficulties with SHA in Western Maryland is, they just don't talk much.

All of the PG sites south of US 50 and the Bowie site are not on the air. Cobb Road (roughly US 50 and I-95) is on the air, and it is covering south to Andrews, and east to Bowie. Not sure of the status of the northern PG sites, or how far Cobb Road covers to the north atm. Westward it covers into DC.

I'm glad to hear there is a Bowie site, as I can barley pull a signal in from the Cobb Road site.

Is there posted somewhere where the planned sites are? I wasn't having any luck searching on the license(s).

I would check the FCC database. The RRDB is known to have errors / omissions.

I checked the northern most sites in PG, and they are also silent. It looks like Cobb Road is the only PG simulcast site currently on the air, which kinda makes sense since it is the prime site for the cell, and they are running with a temporary network setup. Surprising how far this site can reach in an urban area - but the topography is a bit flat.

Based on the Jessup comment, you might find that a few of these are unstaffed storage/salt facilities. That's all Jessup is - the only manned SHA shop in-county (and therefore the only one that needs a TG) is Dayton.

If you are out on the road, either MD 4 or US 301, you can receive the Cobb Road site. But it is spotty - but understandable considering the distance.

It's looking like 7278 is a District 6 Ops talk group for SHA. I monitored Keysers Ridge calling a truck on it tonight. I hear Cumberland/LaVale shop talking to their trucks on there as well from time to time. Back in the low band days, this was true as well. They hung out on 47.1 MHz together.

Any ideas on 262xxxx series radio ids on site 1.20. Some are on Allegany TGs while a couple have been noted on TG 7276. One particular RID, 2621441, I have noticed on both FIRST TG 7276 and on Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center Trunking System, Mount Weather, Virginia - Scanner Frequencies. Likely 2 different radios with the same RID.
The RIDs are not necessarily unique to subscribers, but they are unique to a radio system. The same subscriber might use one RID for FIRST, then use a different RID for another system it is authorized to operate on. It is interesting however; suggests a federal agency user.

In the 700/800 public safety world, RIDs are standardized across the region. On MD FiRST and other maryland P25 systems, 262xxxx and 263xxxx are reserved for washington county.

That said, the UHF and VHF worlds do NOT mesh with that and the federal gov does their own thing entirely outside the 7/8 bands. It's very likely that the two subscribers with the same ID is a coincidence of assignment.

The point I was attempting to make is an RID is a serial number, so a subscriber can have more than one RID that allows it to operate on different / legacy systems if it has the proper options installed (like APXs purchased w/ TDMA and SmartZone software to make migration to P25 easier.)
