I was at my local Dispatch center and they were monitoring a channel which everyone in Maryland acknowledged I believe NOAA or the NWS. Each county had to advise they were direct on the messages from whatever weather source. Does anyone know what frequency this is or what this is?? Thanks

Possibly the National Warning System (NAWAS). If it is it is typically a wireline circuit and not monitorable.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NAWAS for more details on NAWAS.

Maybe one of the standard interop channels like 155.370, but since you said they were acknowledging the NWS my guess would be NAWAS.

Most likely using a tan colored deskset remote (looks like a telephone). Also, your dispatch center probably answered as the name of the town it's located in as opposed to the name of the county, right? Was definitely NAWAS.

I agree with everyone else sounds like NAWAS to me. I have never known of a weather frequency in MD except via amatuer radio.

Nathan,

This brings up a related question. I'd previously heard that the old VHF FEMA "WARN" frequencies are no longer used in this area.....do you have any insight that you can share?
