Mass TPD 10-90s

Does any one know why TPD is doing 10-90s on the entire citywide shift? Is this a new policy or is something more sinister afoot?

caught some info that a person heard gunfire near an officer so they 90'd all sides of town to make sure everyone was fine..not sure if it was a phone call or what.
