I've glanced through the manual but couldn't find an answer.

Is it now possible that with the dynamic layout of the 396, that you can have more then 10 trunk systems?

TIA

It comes preloaded with many multiples of that. The hard limit is 400 systems, total. There is no limit on how many of each type, up to that total limit (i.e. you could have 400 Motorola or 200 Motorola and 200 LTR, or any and every combination in between amongst Motorola, LTR, EDACS, and Conventional).

Thanks. That's great. I also like the fact that you can have up to 200 talkgroup id's per system.

I'm going to throw together a spreadsheet based on my current 785/296 programming.

With a large Smartzone system, I suppose you could put each site in as a separate system and be able to scan them all as you travel?

Cool if it's possible.

Hello,

With 100 Quick Keys you can also assign a Quick Key to each site of a Smartzone System so it is easier to lockout or enable a site. The SysID display also shows the site number for Smartzone systems.

396 Question about Programming

So, the 296 had an issue for us wanting to scan VHF APCO systems, and that was programming of Base Space and Offset. Where I live, we have a 7 site, VHF Smartzone system with one site having 5 channels, the others with three. All of the 14 possible Frequency Identifier Tables are in use as broadcasted from the control channels.

UpMan, is the new 396T going to have a simple, self synthesizing system or are we going to have to program the "Base, Space, and Offset Data" for each trunked system or trunked bank? I do not mind programming the data, without going through some sort of calculus to get there. One reason I opted for the Pro 96 originally was because it has up to 6 tables per bank while the 296 had only 3, none to easy, settings. Has the technology or user friendliness for the 396 improved for VHF trunked systems programming compared to the 296D?

Thanks

Tom, see my reply to your other post. The key is the 296 & 796 must have updated firmware. This can be downloaded from Uniden and installed by the user.

That's the best way to have the scanner catch all sites is to enter them in as separate systems. Otherwise it locks on to the first CC and ignores the rest.

Correct as always Wayne.

I've separated each site into their own systems and it works great.

Travelling will become much easier.
