hello to all,

Some of you might have remembered my old setup that i had. Well when I installed the scanner in the dash it was about October. When summer came thing began to get a little warm. The scanners display aged about 4 years. The contrast was shot and becoming unreadable. So after many trial tests with this setup using many different kinds of methods to try and reduce the amount of heat coming to the dash, Yes including a windshield visor. That however proved to do nothing.

Equipment :
Scanner : BCT-15
Remote head : BC-RH96

The old install is showing the scanner on the dash.

The ones following are the new ones with a pic of my 800Mhz antenna on the roof.

Scott,

Thanks for the idea. I just bought a 2008 Mazda3 and was trying to figure out where to install my scanner. I had the GRE PSR-400 but just ordered the BCT-15. I like the RH install. The old setup on the dash, did you have the compartment there that opened or what did you do? Just curious.

The last pic, Shows the scanner in a OEM type dash peice that uses a one din space. I figured why not use this for the scanner to keep the factory look. However this proved to be bad idea. The head was too much for the scanner. So i went with what you see above. Thanks agian everyone for the comments.

That's a shame that it didn't work out pragmatically, because the in-dash mount was excellent aesthetically. I imagine even the red/orange backlight matched the red backlight interior.
