• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello all, Im having some issues finding answers and was hoping someone on here would be able to help. I am an officer of a volunteer EMS squad in a small city and every summer we have multiple events that require EMS coverage and most of which require multiple ambulances, bike teams and field units. Up until last year we had our local communications center bring their mobile communications vehicle but it has since been reassigned to another location and we don't have access to it like we use to. Last year we found ourselves working off of multiple portable radios which was inconvenient to say the least. Over the past year I have been looking in to a solution for the future such a multiple mobile radios built in to a hard shell case, the desktop mount with speaker, the 10 amp switching power supplies and the list goes on and on and on. The latest idea is just getting the MC3000 deskset for multiple reasons, including MDC paging to individual radios, Alert Tones, QCII paging and a slew of other options. Now here are the questions I was having trouble find answers to:

1-Will I be able to obtain the CPS for this off of Motorola's site? ( I have access ) or will this have to be programmed through the dealer?
2-How do I go about connecting the deskset to a mobile such as the CDM 1250 or something similar. I read something about a junction box but really couldn't figure it out.

Besides those 2 questions is this idea feasible for what we need it for and does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Brendan

Brendan, from what I can tell, no cps is needed, and one junction box is required per radio. I'm sure others will correct me if wrong.

I believe that deskset only operates with an MCS2000 Model 3 or an ASTRO Digital Consolette radio. The The CDM1250 (or any radio you connect the deskset to) will need to have a tone remote adapter or remote capabilities. Each radio will also need the features built-in that you want to use (MDC; QCII; etc). Don't forget that they all need to be connected with typically 4-wire circuits (or some other interconnect method that will pass audio and tones).
