• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

MCC7500 select audio defaults to max

Hey all,

I am glad I came across this forum. I work at a fairly active Fire Department that dispatches for several cities.

One thing we’ve noticed, and I think it’s by design, is we have our TG going into a headset and when the talk group is selected and the default audio bar goes right is max (7). You can adjust it but when you de-select it and re-select it again, which is common when you work with multiple Talk Groups, it again goes back to default of 7.

There is no option to adjust this or keep the default the same if you change it. But you can for the level of emergency button alerts in the sound config. Is this an oversight? Is there a way to edit a configuration file? Motorola claims this is how it works and it won’t be changed. Seems like such a configurable option that would be useful.

Anyone else run into this?

Thanks!

I believe that’s by design to insure the full audio goes to the SEL speaker or headset at all times.

The user can then control the volume coming out of the SEL speaker by turning the physical knob on the speaker itself or using the volume control on the headset box.

Yes. That is the way it is supposed to work. If a dispatcher selects a resource, it is important.

As I remember the default volume step for select and unselect can be set by the system admin in the system configuration but as mentioned it will be set to that default whenever a user change the select TG. There's lots of thoughts that have gone into all those functions to stop users from doing mistakes if they forgot a mute setting or a too low volume that might make him or her miss a call. Even the analog volume controls have a resistor between the control and ground that will prevent the audio from being totally silent at their lowest setting.

Elite Admin would be where an adjustment would be, Dispatchers typically do not have access to that. There are Initial and Minimum's to adjust.
