I have an mcs2000 model 2 which I have programmed with 250 personalities. When setting up the zones, I can have up to the 50 zones allowed but it only gives me 160 channel spaces across those 50 zones. Any way to expand it to the capability of 25 channels in each of the zones?

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

You can do it with an XTL/XTS and APX, but it's been so long since I programmed an MCS/MTS that I'm not 100% sure on that one; however, with the MTS I think you can put additional channels in a zone (above Channel 16), and use the CHAN keypad/menu command and up/down arrows to access them.
With the MCS, you should just be able to slap as many channels as you want in a zone, but you only get 160 channels to play with in any combination (ie if you put 150 channels in one zone, you can only put 10 more channels in another zone and that's it). If I recall correctly, each zone you add above 10 reduces the number of available channels by one.
You may have to actually have the 255 channel flash option in order to make it work on either one.

You may be able to expand the channel capacity with the FDB tool.
