MDC QUESTION

I just heard one of the county fire/rescue go by & they just turned the siren on as getting a call, then a second later MONTGOMERY DISPATCH came on to say that they are going to this call, so can they dispatch on the MDC or do I need to set the delay on my scanner?

I am not real familiar with the MDC's yet, but the impression I get, is that the MDC's are used for the most part (for the fire dept) for status changes of the units, so the mainframes (servers) can keep track of them for the automated call system. (i.e. time stamps, in service, out of service, enroute to the hospital, unit on the air and available, etc...) as well as some misc call coding (type of call, treatment/action taken).

I believe all responses are still required to be verbal.

Thanks, maybe that time I may have just missed it since I am so us to it. Or a unit that was on 7C taking someone to the hospital.
