I am new to Kenwood radios, I have a TK-7150. Doing my research I have seen that these particular radios are capable of MDC1200 encode, but will the decode a MDC1200 ID? MDC is the only format of ANI used in my area, thanks.

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

You will need he CIM-1000 (MDC-1200) ANI board (list 131.25) and the CIM-Cable (list 61.25) to program the board.

Almost.
The CIM-1000 board is an encode only board, that can be installed in the TK-7180/TK-8180 model radios.
It doesn't offer to decode, which I believe is what your looking for. The Kenwood sales slicks mention that you can get MDC1200 [encode only] at the time of initial order (a CIM-1000 installed by Kenwood) , as an option.
I suppose if your looking for "decode", you could go with a real motorola radio or the rather spendy decoder
that is offered by Cim tech corp. It works pretty good and can do alias decoding too.

Ok, its not really a big deal... my other radio is a CDM1250 and it works just fine. It was just a more " just out of curiousoity" question.
