Ive been involved with emergency services since the early 90's. I ve yet to stick my head inside one of the Maryland department of environment trucks. You know the ones that while responding to calls look like x-mas trees at night. They have a zillion antennas on the roof and are painted powder blue...
Does anyone know what radios are in these trucks. The antennas must go to something.

It aint a secret !!

The reason for the multitude of antennas is they are a statewide agency and to be able to communicate.. Opps Im sorry, Interoperate, they must have multiple radios on simultainiously.. They have the usual compliment of Aircraft, Vhf low, High, UHF, Trunked radios for each jurisdicion they visit...

What a Big Secret !!!

Dispatcher308, I'm dying of curiosity. What the devil have you said to this forum that has MD "breathing down [your] back"? Is the state trying to move towards keeping all radio-related info secret? Do thet get to censor your mail? What flipping business is it of theirs what you write on here if it isn't officially confidential information? Do they get to tell you how much butter to use on your toast, too? I read through some of your back posts, looking for spilled state secrets. I see you were upset about getting flak from some posters about dicrepancies in some data, but I don't recognize anything you wrote as revealing enemy tank positions or offering up how to make a hydrogen bomb. It sure sounds like MD needs to remove from its hind quarters a rather large flagpole.

Well you see the Socialist State of MD gets really upset when you reveal their secrets. I can understand Dispatcher's dilemma. Administration likes to threaten loss of job and all and when you live paycheck to paycheck missing one really hurts the family life. Dispatcher will give up info if he can but no one on here can pay his bills if he loses his job, can you? Plus if it is something only he would know it is kinda dumb to snitch yourself out for a frequency. Maybe privately he may tell you something just don't put it on here and snitch him out, just enjoy.

Just a suggestion. Couldnt one assume a different name on RR and then spill the beans. Just a thought. All I asked was what all the antennas on the MDE trucks were for. Didnt think it would lead to all this. Maybe I just need to what for the right person to come along.

Well the first thing I see wrong with those that are getting jammed is the fact that they are signing the transmits using a real name or identifying symbol.

What BS!! Like you can't remain anonymous on a Forum on the internet. Dispatcher 308, loose the drama it's better if you just don’t respond to a question at all then to say "that's all I can say" as if you are so superior to the rest of us and have so much critical info that you can't share. You just love the drama and want people to question it and it has gotten OLD!!

Get real, you work for the state of MD, (1) It isn't like you can't find a better job if they did fire you and (2) The State of Maryland never fires anyone so LOOSE THE DRAMA!

To shed light on Dispatcher308's situation, this was originally posted by Dispatcher308 in the HF Forum here on Radio Reference:

PLEASE SEE MESSAGE ABOVE. AS THE BIG MAN CAME DOWN ON ME.

Let me tell the story.

1. FEMA found these frequencies that I posted
2. They traced my IP Address back to work back to me
3. They called the Comm Officer here at work and said no no no!
4. Comm Officer called my big boss advised him no no no
5. Big Boss told my supervisor no no no
6. My Supervisor told me no no no.

Sorry folks aint gonna post anymore Frequencies regarding emergency management or homeland security for the FEAR of Losing my job.

Beleive me I know what and what not to post but hey I aint gonna lose my job.

Not giving my opinion on the situation, but just relaying what he posted on another forum.

As for being told "no," having worked in fire/EMS/law enforcement for many, many years, I can tell you that when you're told, "don't release this information," you don't release it. Could they fire you? Absolutely! For what? Insubordination.

Not saying if 308 is right or wrong, dramatic or not, but we all have reasons for the things we do.

Then wouldn't it be simpler to just not respond to the origianl post at all (and others like it), instead of calling attention to yourself by saying you can't say anything ??

It seems it would eliminate a lot of contention generated by such posts, which since they don't provide any useful information, are pointless anyway. Otherwise it would appear you are just trying to inpress everyone with your (self perceived) importance.

And to answer the original question, MDE response trucks are equipped with radios enabling them to operate on the frequencies/modes used by the jusidiction in which they are responding to an incident.

After all this hubbub, I have NEVER heard MDE operating on a jurisdictions radio system! It would seem they operate by telephone and face-to-face only.

True. I've been at scenes they've responded to, and never heard them on the local FD (also on scene) freqs.
Doesn't mean they don't, just never heard them.

Mde trucks

I just past a MDE truck today and saw the many antennas on the roof and I thought. I have never ever heard these units on the fire department radios. If they dont use the radios then it would be cheaper for them to get scanners to monitor the situations they are responding to.

Patrolman123 are you still interested in seeing the truck? We could meet up if you like.
