In the MSWIN Database Mississippi Department of Transportation Law Enforcement Districts are listed with letters. There are Region mentions as well.

Anyone know the applicable geography for each letter? Primarily I am only interested in the Northeast corner that borders Tennessee & Alabama. (And no; I am not a truck driver nor in cahoots with one that would attempt evasion by monitoring.)

Numbered Maintenance. etc. Districts are well represented via the agency webpage. Can't find a thing about LE lettered Districts.

MDOT LE Districts mirror MHP districts. For example: Troop M, D9 is exactly the same as MHP Troop M, D9. Only 2 differences: MDOT LE also has a rail branch, not sure what they call it District and Troop wise. And they only have 1 dispatch center in Jackson, unlike MHP which has an office in each District.

Very well. Thank you.

Still puzzled about the three labeled regions but will assume they start north and work south in terms of 1-North, 2-Central, & 3-South. If though like Alabama State Troopers, that is opposite; Troop letters begin south and work northward.

My guess about the rail branch is either the listed “T” or “Y” deign as MHP has neither.

MHP starts dead center with Troop C District 1, Central MS. Then it moves up and around the State finally ending with Troop M, District 9 South West MS.

Oh you mean MDOT maintenance. That stems from way back. They also start in Central at the center of the universe AKA Jackson, MS.

Regions

Not DOT maintenance. Not MHP. Those are a bit tricky but with an agency map, easy enough to decipher. Why MHP chooses to identify with both a Troop letter & District number is a little strange though. As long as I can remember “F” & “4” I’m good to go for MHP going on forty plus years now.
MDOT non LE Districts likewise, no problem.

Then, enter Regions for MDOT Law Enforcement. I have yet to find a map showing Regional boundaries. The explanation about MDOT LE Districts mirroring MHP was helpful. Talkgroup labels also indicate three regions but not any are defined geographically that I can locate.

In a current update for my TRX-1, I want to program as few talkgroups as possible. I’ll just go with all the Region talkgroups listed for MDOT LE and see what applies for NE MS and then delete the others.

Well many agencies go with kinda strange methods of naming. Like here on Indy with IMPD. Northwest District Frank Units. Could be simple like JPD shift district unit
But there it is.

If it helps any Y is in central Mississippi. The scales on I-20 near Louisiana both use Y. Rail has their own talkgroup.
