I searched the RR for the answer and i know this has been discussed before, Would it be illegal to receive local Fire MDT frequencies on a RIM? I have an 800mhz RIM that came with my MW computer, and my local fire has MDT's on 800mhz, would it be illegal to receive MDT calls on my MW id the frequency is unencrypted?

DISCLAMER : I am not attempting this, it is just a question, i have no use for the RIM, i am just curious about this

I highly doubt that your RIM and your MDT system use the same protocol.

The only chance would be if somehow the MDT system and the old RIM both are using the old Bell South Mobile data network protocol. (Would be quite a stretch.)

Then the RIM would have to be programmed to clone your MDT ID and then also be able to decode the messages without acknowledging.

I don't know enough about the protocol or the equipment if this is even possible.
