MDT Question

Is the MDT information sent to the squad cars sent via a cellular air card, or over the air?

I've heard both, and was curious if anybody had tried to pick them up if they were over the air.

I'm interested in particular in Parker Co (Weatherford) and Tarrant Co.

Any information would be appreciated.

The information is sent, depending on the agency and contracts, via proprietary (county owned) or cellular systems. The information, by law and DPS/FBI rules, must be encrypted since personal as well as criminal related information is sent via the system. Plus, ECPA, and Texas laws make it illegal to decrypt encrypted communications. So, sorry, you cannot monitor MDTs.
