Pretty much my experience with my G4 and G5. I have grown to really like commercial gear over the latest offerings from the consumer companies. I tried the SDS200, but returned it two weeks later for a display failure and never reordered. Burn me once, shame on you; burn me twice, shame on me :D Enjoy your radios. See you in the Unication forum.

my g-5 goes everywhere i do. I have scanners running for my feeds at home, otherwise my g-5. I carry around my vertex vxd7200 portable to scan some local vhf and marine traffic.

Definitely a simple install lol

It's worth noting, so someone isn't misled, picking up talkgroups on a trunked radio system isn't a distance thing - I can monitor talkgroups of people talking over 200 miles away with my Uniden scanners...but the site/tower that I'm monitoring them off of is 15 miles away. My point is...that's not really an indicator of a receiver being good since talkgroups are just talkgroups. It's like a ham saying "I talked to a guy on DMR worldwide talkgroup from Great Britain...that's a long distance contact!", which I've also heard, though he was using his hotspot.

Not busting your chops as those are good pagers to monitor with, just pointing it out. Saw one listed in the classifieds talking about 40 miles. Same thing.
