Medford Mass A2 on 463.525

The other day I heard the Medford Mass A2 unit talking to the Armstrong dispatcher on 463.525. I am pretty sure that Armstrong Ambulance Service dedicates 2 ambulances to covering 911 calls in Medford. "A1" is a 24/7 ambulance staffed by paramedics. "A2" is possibly a 12 hour per day ambulance that is staffed by EMTs. It seems that the Armstrong BLS ambulances operate on 464.025, and the Armstrong ALS units operate on 463.525. But for some reason, I heard A2 chatting on 463.525. Peter Sz

I have them both in my bank along with other Armstrong frequencies. I would like to get rid of the non-Medford, so I am going to dump all but these two. Thanks.

Medford A2 is in fact a BLS Unit. It operates from 7a-9p Sunday thru Thursday and 24 hours on Friday and Saturday. A2 and A1 run out of the Medford base on Union Street next to Fire Headquarters.

A2 does operate on the Armstrong ALS channel. Because it is a contracted, dedicated truck for the City, it was decided to allow it to operate on the 463.525 as A1 does. It allows the Armstrong ALS dispacher to better monitor where the trucks are and to determine if an A3, A4, etc is needed (All trucks past A2 are non-dedicated and posted in the city after A2 is dispatched.)
