Hearing activity on it, definitely news related, but can't tell which station.

Might be KTVU. I hear helicopter back ground noise and looking at my ADSB receiver, KTVU does have their helo up

Off the top of my head, I thought ABC7 and KTVU2 own the choppers and the others share in those?

i do not think any body owns there own Choppers now
i think they are are contacted out to company's the media took a big hit with the internet
