I am trying to figure out why I cant pick up Hospital to Ambulance or ambulance to hospital here in hood county. I Pick up dispatch to ambulance when they are dispatced to the seen .. Any body have any Ideas ?

Hospital Channels?

Are you listing to Hood Co. Fire,or Granbury Fire Dept.and do hear them telling the dispatcher their switching over to a Hospital Channel or Biotel?

... do you know if it's a duplex net with a repeater? If so, ambulances (ML station class) will transmit on one frequency and the fixed base repeater (FBR station class) will reply on another. (Frequencies in FBR/ML configuration should be separated by a minimum of 5 MHz, although you can assign them closer together in certain circumstances.) If it is duplex, it could be you don't have the ambulance freq programmed. Too, it could be you're not hearing the ambulances because of distance, no matter if it's a simplex net with one frequency or duplex net with two.

I have all Fire Freq here in Hood County and all The city ones as well.. I have never heard them say they are switching to hospital Channel or Biotel. I have been listning for almost 4 years here and have never heard them say that. I also programend in all the Medic Freq that where listed for the Hospital here and all the medic Freq.. I Live with in 2 miles of the Hosptial so I dont think its a Distance issue. I think I maybe have about 40 to 50 freq programed in hoping to hear The ER here..

If you have 463.000 THRU 463.1750 and 155.3400 then maybe NEXTEL?

I have all thoes plus the ones listed above and a lot more.. I am thinking you may be right about the nextel. Did not even think about that

They probably call in patient reports on a cell phone.
You might also see if they use 155.340 or 155.280.

Careflite Freq.s

Careflite was on the TXU EDACS Trunk System until June1.Now they are on 131.4500(Dallas)ARINC and 131.6750(Ft.Worth)ARINC.Also 464.100PL.123.0(CernTower).They use 463.0250 (MED.2) for hospital Info.I don't know if you will be able to hear them,but those are the Freq's.
Radioreference database slso has Air Medical Freq.s for your area.

One more quick ? .. I see a lot of PL Tone listed.. What are they and how do I use them. ?

To simpilfy, the PL tone is used as a sort of department identifier. It helps units for a specific agency hear calls that concern their coverage area. Calls with a differing PL tone never break squelch on their radios and are not heard. It is not essential to use when scanning.

However, there are times you may wish to use it. For example, in my area, Dallas county, fire frequency 154.400 is used both by Balch Springs & by Glenn Heights (which straddles the Dallas/Ellis county border). While they are currently migrating to an EDACS system, 154.400 has also been used by the Rockwall fire department. It was not uncommon to hear traffic for all three departments within a given time period. If I wanted to only hear Balch Springs on the frequency, I would enter their PL tone from the database when programming. If I wanted to hear any and all activivity on the frequency, regardless of department, I would leave that field blank. Not all scanners accept PL tone information as part of a channel setup.
