I've kept both agencies pretty faithfully in the background most days (I used to work for one of them) but recently checked in and noticed zero radio traffic on all their channels. Nothing more than the odd digital warbling. Anyone have an inside scoop? I'm guessing they changed to digital or something of the sort?

Update: Speaking with one of my coworkers they said they've switched to digital just in case someone was wondering.

Yep. They switched to their own uhf p25 system.
Last I knew they aren’t encrypted but that was in November. They had a lot of work to do to get to this point so they may have changed their minds.

Do we have info on this system? Is it in the DB?

Any info on freqs? FCC info maybe? I have the NXDN upgrade on the scanner I can start logging talkgroups.

As far as I can tell, both MWA and AMR are still using the same frequencies listed in the DB just on NXDN radios. AMR's callsign WQFN357 is listed as a "trunked" system however I have not heard any radio traffic on those frequencies yet. My guess is that they are planning a move to that system once they have all the kinks worked out but I'm just speculating. It would make sense to have both companies on the same towers as they are essentially one entity, both getting dispatched from the same center, and both companies have always had access to each others frequencies. Let me know if you have any further as I am also interested.

Ok I’ll create a favorites list based on the original freqs and change the system type to NXDN and ID search it for a few. The RAN is going to be needed but I think in discovery mode I can get that? I’ll post if I figure it out.

Yes, at least on my Uniden 536HP the RAN pops up when scanning. I'm able to hear traffic with the NXDN upgrade however I am noticing that the audio, specially from dispatch is really bad so I'm not sure if its just growing pains or what with the change over.

Audio sounds just fine on their radios. All of their towers have been fixed and new equipment installed on some. They even found towers that weren’t working they didn’t know about. Everything is up and running and finished. There is no future plans to change to trunking either.

Keep tabs on SNACC btw as there may be TGs coming for AMR/MW. Apparently further investigating shows they have more up their sleeve in another short period of time 🙄

Seems Medic West has transitioned mostly to SNACC as of now. Calls are being dispatched on SNACC but shtart of shift traffic is still coming across NXDN.

Can you share any talk groups? I'm doing a trunking discovery but haven't heard anything yet.

They are on both systems. They don’t have enough radios for snacc yet which is why they are running on both. I’m trying to figure out if they are encrypted which may be why ur not hearing as much. There was talk about it in the past but unsure. Should confirm that part tomorrow.

Is anyone else having a hard time with NXDN? I'm using a 536hp and an SDS200. The audio from both MWA and AMR dispatch just sounds horrendous with the audio from the field units being far better. Any tips or tricks? I've tried different bandwidths, antennas, attenuators. I've even tried catching the input channels to see if maybe my scanner was getting overloaded, no changes. Getting perfect signal strength.

Also, in North Las Vegas, MWA is being dispatched by the Fire Alarm Office on the SNACC NLVFD talk groups as per contract agreements with the city there, using 10xx and 11xx callsigns. Haven't heard anything else on SNACC regarding MWA or AMR other than the routine field telemetry into the Hospitals using the 800MHz SNACC radios.

Can you provide what freqs the NXDN you are having trouble hearing?
