Memorex speakers

Got a pair of memorex speakers from the thrift store for $3. They look like a robot head with a speaker face. Speaker wire out the back also what looks like a phone jack above the speaker wire. They sound really good good bass. Will get a pic tomorrow.
What system did they go to? Old 8-track?
