Looking for memory management software for the AR5001D operating under Windows.

AOR's "AR5001D/AR6000 Editing Software" is pretty basic, only allowing you to read what's in the radio, edit it and write back i.e. you can't save a profile to a PC for offline editing or importing data to write to the radio.

AOR lists a few third party software companies but theirs seem aimed at signal analysis and decoding, SIGINT COMINT etc.

I contacted Butel a couple of years ago but they said they had no plans for AR5001 software. In fact they don't list much else for AOR either, just the AR8200, AR DV1, AR8600 & SR2000(A).

Update.

Found on the AOR What's New page:

9-20-2022 Multi-receiver control
ARL2300LOCAL for Windows is a free receiver control & memory management software for our AR2300, AR2300-IQ, AR5001D, AR6000, AR5700D receivers.

Its also now listed on the AOR site's page for the receiver model under "AOR Windows Software".

Getting it running was a bit fiddly, requiring an installation of the latest Java and a few other tweaks but it seems to be working well now on my Windows 7 machine, and it is said to be tested and working under Windows 10 & 11.

Hi Damien, How do you find using the 5001D? Do you think it is worth upgrading from the AR5000. I have heard mixed reports about the 5001D and would be interested on your thoughts.

Alan.

Mine is a fairly recent build (bought new December 2020 and shipped to the dealer then from JA) so any bugs reported by some earlier may have been fixed.

My only use has been VHF/UHF, and performance there is comparable with my AR5000+3. You have prompted me to to hook it up to a HF antenna sometime and check LW/MW/SW performance.

I have since wondered if I should have spent the extra $k+ and purchased the AR5700D which is more capable, but at the time the 5001D met my needs. I will be doing some further comparisons with the 5000+3 and if satisfactory, moving on the latter.
