The live feed to A-1 Fire 1 will be down indefintely. The Commercial Appeal, who was paying to host the feed through a company in Knoxville, has ceased paying for the hosting. There was some kind of upgrading that needed to be done, and the Commercial Appeal said they were not going to pay for the upgrades nor were they going to pay for the hosting anymore. So, if you were going to the Commercial Appeal's website, Fire Museum Website, memphisfire.net, or the link here on The Memphis database, the link is no longer any good.

Until next time....

Matthew--
Just visited the Walls Fire website. Very nice work and interesting.

Thanks,

I still have a lot of work to do to get it updated. The guy who built it works for the IT department at Fed Ex. He doesn't have too much time to work on it, so I've been updating it.

Check out www.matthewtomek.com/memphisfirescanner.asx and let me know what you think. I'm just playing around with a fire department-only feed. This particular feed is not the "official" feed nor is it "officially" open for business, just palying around right now. There is a hum in the background, not sure what's causing it.

Thanks,

Matthew

Howdy buddy, feed was sounding nice and clear but today there seems to be quite a bit of distortion or overmodulation. The digital is clear its just hard to understand them from the distortion. Keep up the great feed buddy.

Not sure what may have been causing the overmodulation. I had two power failures at the house yesterday due to a storm. Everything should be back up and running ok now. Let me know how that audio continues to sound. Thanks.

Yeah that might of been it, not sure. Audio sounds about as perfect as can be. I'd have to say this is the best sounding digital system i've ever heard. Not just that it comes in clear but the digital is not overmodulated. Some systems like DC & Cincinatti are overmodulated and adjusting the volume doesn't help. Shelby County did a great job picking this system.

Something wierd about this feed and using ScanRec. If your not familiar with ScanRec, its a free program online to record audio and it takes out the dead air. Anyways I just tried doing some recording on this feed and for some reason it won't detect the audio. Its not the media player because I loaded another feed on it and it started recording. Do you have this setup in a different way Matt? Just pretty odd that it can't detect the audio using WMP but it can detect it on other audio feeds using WMP.

I've had problems using ScanRec also. I'm not sure why it won't work. As far as I know, nothing is out of the ordinary with the way my Media Encoder is set up.
