I was happily scanning away on my SDS200 Memphis area already loaded with local departments until I got the bright idea to use Parallels, Windows, and Sentinel. I won't bore you with the details but the bottom line is that my brand new SDS200 is now a brick. Is there anyone in the Memphis, TN area who can help me resolve this. I have used RR Forum and also Uniden Group on FaceBook, and have called the vendor, Scanner Master which I thought would be the ideal source but all failed. I think this is going to need hands on help. If you are in the Memphis area, or know someone here, or have another idea, please let me know.

You probably corrupted the SD data card. You need to use Sentinel to reformat, then clear all data, then download the RRDB. I don't know anything about Windows emulators on Mac computers, but wild guess is that is the root of your problem.

I would recommend using a Windows based computer if you have access.

What specifically is (are) the issue(s)?
The radio was working fine with the pre-loaded systems by Scanner Master. I decided that I wanted to have better control that would be provided with Sentinel so I loaded Parallels and then Windows and then Sentinel on my Mac. Loading them had a lot of false starts so it could easily be the root of the problem. The SDS200 opening screen now says, “SD Card File Error; Use Sentinel ‘Clear User Data’ operation to initialize SD Card”

In Sentinel when I click on Clear User Data nothing happens.

After connecting the micro USB cable did you put the scanner into mass storage mode as described in the video here so that the virtual machine & Sentinel can see it?

It's almost always those details that help others help you.

Like John asked, did you put the 200 in Mass Data when prompted?

I previously had used the Mac with Parallels and Windows for HomePatrol2 and it all worked well together. :-/

Yes, I connected the cable but apparently there is no communication.

Does Parallels/Windows see the scanner at all? (it should come up as a USB drive)
not currently but earlier in the process it did. The reason I’ve asked about local help is because I’ve tried loading and unloading all the apps multiple times and it‘s difficult to know which settings are active.

You say pre-loaded systems by Scanner Master. Are you talking about the full database or did you have them create the favorites list before they shipped it to you? In any event, did you ever read the scanner into sentinel?

Reformat then try clear user data. That reintializes the card to accept the RRDB and default Profile. I had to do that the other day.

This is a long shot. Since you mentioned previous HP2 use, did you use the right version of Sentinel? The Home Patrol and x36 versions are different. If you have Parallels, Windows and the correct version of Sentinel running, maybe remove the SD card and try using a USB card reader to see if you can fix it.

In a sense that is the root of the problem, the problems began with my loading the different version of Sentinel.
