Memphis/Shelby BCT8

Hi all,

New scanner user here. Always been fascinated with radio, so I figured now is as good a time as any to get a scanner and delve deeper. I got a BCT8 TrunkTracker last week, and have enjoyed tuning in to ATC and FedEx frequencies... I work down on the ramp at FedEx, so it's interesting to hear what goes on when I'm not there, as well as the patter of FedEx planes going overhead.

Anyway, I'm attempting to program my BCT8 to follow the Shelby County trunk, as seen at:

I can hear transmissions on 856.2125, and I had no trouble programming the 856-860.2125 frequencies in to trunk bank 1 on the BCT8. I've tried programming in the AFS codes as "Full EDACS IDs" (e.g. 02 - dot - 041 for dispatch, 02 - dot - 043 for Sheriff Records). When I try scanning the PVT TRUNK 1 bank, nothing comes up, even when there is activity on those frequencies in non-trunk mode.

Am I programming the EDACS talkgroups incorrectly? Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've re-read the manual several times and tried Googling for pertinent info, but it seems no one else in the Shelby/Memphis area has published any TrunkTracker programming help. I would welcome assistance from fellow Memphians.

Disregard previous message.

It appears that I had programmed everything correctly, but I wasn't scanning properly. The BCT8 manual suggests that "Scan id" displays when trunk scanning, but I had no results there. When I hit SRCH instead, SCSD is now coming through loud and clear with the appropriate decimal codes on each TX.

I will be putting up a web page with instructions for programming the BCT8 to receive SCSD. Will post URL to this thread when complete.

Still interested in hearing from other Memphis/Shelby BCT8 owners and others who have interesting frequencies.

i have the same problem you initially had.

I have mine programmed correctly. But when i get towards the end of your instructions on your webpage, I can't seem to get mine in SRCH mode. everytime i hit search it just goes to regular search with the UP or DOWN arrows beside it, and wants to scan normal 800 segments. like 25-40 and then it starts scanning everything. I can't get just SRCH to come up while its scanning my EDACS bank. I can never get ID SCAN to come up either, its always just at SCAN
